Social Security Agency
As the
vast majority of families within the
community are in employment few had
contact with the Social Security Agency.
However, issues around effective
communication and dissemination of
information were raised as it was felt
that members of the community may be
unaware of benefit entitlements.
Recommendations:
- Information
about benefits and benefit
entitlements needs to be
disseminated to the community in
an accessible format (see page
17).
- The
community needs a Community
Development Worker to develop
effective information
dissemination and advocacy.
District Councils
It was
felt that councils should have due regard
to the needs of minority ethnic
communities when commissioning and
providing facilities for the population
as a whole. The priorities of
minority ethnic communities may differ
from the majority communities. The
community expressed a particular need to
develop community facilities and a
mosque.
