Forced To Flee

Forced to Flee (3rd edition)

New edition of the widely acclaimed FAQ guide on refugees and asylum seekers in Northern Ireland.
Against a background of disquiet over the Home Office's new arrangements for arresting and detaining many asylum seekers to Northern Ireland, the Refugee Action Group has produced this updated response to questions on asylum frequently asked by journalists, politicians, community activists, teachers and members of the public.
Endorsed by the NUJ and distributed to all its members in Northern Ireland, previous editions of this guide have played an important part in educating the Northern Ireland public about this important issue.

Forced To Flee

Forced to Flee (2nd edition): Frequently asked questions about refugees and asylum seekers in Northern Ireland

How many asylum seekers are there in Northern Ireland? What is the difference between an asylum seeker and a refugee? Why do people come here? Where do they come from?

To provide the answers to these and many more questions, the Refugee Action Group has produced the 2nd edition of Forced to Flee: frequently asked questions about refugees and asylum seekers in Northern Ireland.

This information guide on refugee issues aims to deliver the facts - not the myths - about asylum in Northern Ireland, so fostering a more welcoming climate here for refugees. Copies are available from Amnesty International, Centre for Global Education and Multi-Cultural Resource Centre.
